The Adolescent Literacy Framework

As a partner organization of the Northeast & Islands Regional Educational Laboratory at Brown University (LAB), CRM produced the Adolescent Literacy Support Framework which describes how to implement an effective school wide, content-area literacy initiative. Developed by Julie Meltzer, Ph.D., a Senior Research Associate at CRM, the research-based framework describes the four Key Components of an effective literacy initiative.
  • Student Motivation to Read and Write
  • Research-Based Literacy Strategies
  • Reading and Writing across the Curriculum
  • Support, Focus, and Sustainability
The Knowledge Loom at the LAB provides a full description of the Adolescent Literacy Support Framework.

CRM services help administrators and teachers learn about implementing these key components to improve adolescent literacy. CRM's Adolescent Literacy SPIRAL Program is based on the Adolescent Literacy Support Framework.
