Socrates has proven to be a powerful tool for supporting and evaluating
school improvement initiatives. Socrates is being used to determine the
impact on student learning of Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration
(CSRD) models and to evaluate federal, state, and foundation-funded
programs, including local Title I, special education, bilingual
education, literacy, and other programs. Socrates is also being used to
support several research initiatives. The SOCRATES DATA SYSTEM is a core
component of the Breaking Ranks Model of High School Reform developed as
a collaborative effort of the Education Alliance at Brown University and
CRM.
